Kultapalmut is an experimental documentary film by Verna Kovanen capturing a Kultapalmut duo performance.
Kultapalmut is a Finnish expanded cinema duo formed by Pauliina Mäkelä and Topias Tiheäsalo. They perform live shows that combine experimental music and analog moving images. Their performances can be described as phantastic, modern-day magic lantern shows. Mäkelä and Tiheäsalo use old analog technology: images projected by overhead projectors and concrete reflections are accompanied by electric guitar, transistor radio and camera flash sounds. Kovanen's camera closely follows how the visual and sound magic happens. As the editor, she participates in the experimental play of Kultapalmut – and complements the lineup as a trio.
