presents a diverse selection of Pauliina Mäkelä’s pencil drawings, installations, and animated images from 2020–2024 and includes writings by philosophers Joonas S. Martikainen, Irina Poleshchuk, Erika Ruonakoski and Jaakko Vuori. Beautiful Book Prize 2025 (Finnish Book Art Committee):“The book begins: “Oxygen-producing vegetation becomes corporeal, and the corporeal becomes something ghostly.” There is something magically compelling in the perfection of this paperback art book. Lifting the cover sends a shiver down the spine: the shimmer of silver foil against the rich green cardboard reveals mesmerising, fairy-tale- like illustrations. Philosophical expression, Mäkelä’s work, and photographs from her exhibition together create a world one is reluctant to leave behind.” BUY BOOK https://pauliinamakela.com/Helsinki-Contemporary Wed, 25 Feb 2026 21:52:51 +0000 Pauliina Mäkelä https://pauliinamakela.com/Helsinki-Contemporary <img width="2162" height="2879" width_o="2162" height_o="2879" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/20669a149b51d6fadd5a0cce8411bbb2a88746835077aebacf75b8dfb0ba2729/HC_2_web.jpg" data-mid="245332022" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/20669a149b51d6fadd5a0cce8411bbb2a88746835077aebacf75b8dfb0ba2729/HC_2_web.jpg" /> <img width="2990" height="1999" width_o="2990" height_o="1999" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/c0b3e88476287263feee3f7d77bf28172a186340f182640863c54c41f81aa9b7/HC_3_web.jpg" data-mid="245332021" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/c0b3e88476287263feee3f7d77bf28172a186340f182640863c54c41f81aa9b7/HC_3_web.jpg" /> <img width="2990" height="1999" width_o="2990" height_o="1999" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/fe8b27de84daad3064fa962b48c2a478b14b471e78ff7dbf5aa2f6abdcd1fcf6/HC_1_web.jpg" data-mid="245331774" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/fe8b27de84daad3064fa962b48c2a478b14b471e78ff7dbf5aa2f6abdcd1fcf6/HC_1_web.jpg" /> <img width="2957" height="1894" width_o="2957" height_o="1894" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/ddfcf5507d8d14b94632bcc8169ea9870ce42264459e2d3735f289c6899cb35b/HC_4_web.jpg" data-mid="245332020" border="0" data-scale="84" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/ddfcf5507d8d14b94632bcc8169ea9870ce42264459e2d3735f289c6899cb35b/HC_4_web.jpg" /> WINTER SALON – EXHIBITION VIEWHelsinki Contemporary, 28.11.–21.12.2025 Artists featured in the exhibition: Emma Ainala (FI)Anton Alvarez (SE)Karim Boumjimar (DK)Siri Elfhag (SE)Michael Johansson (SE)Jukka Korkeila (FI)Tuomas A.
